We would love to know how you both met:
Michael and I met in class at University. We had both gone back to Uni after I had been travelling and he had been pursuing a career as an athlete. I had decided to become an art teacher and Michael was doing some electives before deciding his major. We happened to sit across from each other in class and clicked straight away.
Tell us about the beginning of your relationship:
As we had two classes together at uni we were able to see each other often. He helped me with a sculpture project and we became good friends. We went for coffee together almost every day and after a few months started dating.
Let us have a sneak peak of your proposal:
We were down in Bunbury together and Michael had asked two of our friends to help with the proposal. He told me we were going to show them the view from the top of the lookout tower and that they had to go to the shops before hand so we would meet them there. He took me there at sunset driving along the coast and taking in the beautiful view before arriving at the lookout. At the top many beautiful candles and rugs had been set up and immediately I knew what was happening and started crying. He then got on one knee and proposed. It was so beautiful.
What was the date of your Big Day, your beautiful wedding:
What does marriage mean to you:
It means two becoming one. Two people, declaring to God, their family and friends that they have made a vow, a lifelong commitment to the other, to be there for the other and no longer live for themselves but for the other person. To love them unconditionally and put that person before themselves.
Where was the location of the wedding:
Ceremony: Mosman Park – Harmony Baptist Church
Reception: East Fremantle Yacht Club
Tell us about the planning of your wedding day, and were there any unexpected surprises:
The planning wasn’t too bad, unfortunately our string quartet pulled out last minute but we have amazing friends and family who pulled together and arranged music for the ceremony. It all came together perfectly in the end.
What colour themes were used in the wedding:
Burgundy, Navy and Gold. I found these colours really popped in photos and Michael looked amazing in Navy.
Was there any tradition introduced into your wedding, “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue:
We had a very traditional service which I loved, we did the bouquet toss as well at the reception.
What was the theme of your wedding, and how did you decide this:
I didn’t have an exact theme, I just wanted everything to be very elegant, whilst still showing who we were as a couple. I was able to weave in some of my passion for art and designing by creating the order of service, the invitations and individually handwriting everyones name onto a coaster to use as a place setting and wedding favour.
Your wedding was very beautiful, where did you gather inspiration from:
Pinterest and friends helped a lot!
Who were your favourite vendors for the wedding:
All my vendors were amazing, our friend who made our cake was spectacular, Olive and Ivy, our photographer Amy Skinner was incredible the way she captured the day and organised people and made everyone laugh.
Who was the photographer for your wedding:
We would love to know what soundtrack was played for your first dance:
You are the reason – Calum Scott and Leona Lewis
Did you go away for a Honeymoon, if so where was the location:
Singapore. It was beautiful and the perfect time of year to go!
What words of support could you say to couples taking the journey of marriage:
It is the best, most fulfilling thing you will do. It is such a beautiful thing having someone commit to you, and you to them forever and to know that person will always be by your side. All the hard work of planning the wedding is so worth it, and in the end, it’s just the beginning of a wonderful journey.
